5,000kg of waste and one single mission / 5.000kg di scarti e una sola missione ♻️

It was March 30th, 2024, in Copenhagen. ❄️ 

I was standing in a cold warehouse in Nørrebro with my team from MadBoks. The air in the warehouse was cold, smelling of fresh rye bread and sourdough. But as I looked at the 400 boxes stacked in front of me, that smell felt wrong. 

In front of us sat 400 crates of perfectly good food—salmon, fresh vegetables, organic eggs—all destined for the bin because of Easter overstocking. 

5 tons of rescued surplus food in just one morning. 🥖🥦

As a Data Scientist, I’m used to numbers. But seeing 5,000kg of waste in person isn't a statistic; it's a call to action. I realized then that if this happens in one of the world's greenest cities, we have a massive data gap to fill. 

Tutto Zero Waste is my response. My goal is to build a Global Library of circular solutions, from Italy to Scandinavia, from South America to Asia. Every Saturday, I will bring you a new technique, a project, or a story from a hero fighting this battle. ♻️

Rescued pastries in Copenhagen  / Dolci recuperati a Copenaghen 🥖

Era il 30 marzo 2024, a Copenaghen. ❄️

Mi trovavo in un freddo magazzino a Nørrebro con i miei compagni di MadBoks. L'aria nel magazzino era fredda, profumava di pane di segale fresco e lievito madre. Ma guardando le 400 cassette impilate davanti a me, quel profumo sembrava sbagliato.

Davanti a noi c'erano 400 cassette di cibo perfetto—salmone, verdure fresche, uova bio—tutte destinate alla discarica per eccesso di scorte pasquali. 

5 tonnellate di cibo in eccesso recuperato in una sola mattinata. 🥖🥦

Come Data Scientist, sono abituato ai numeri. Ma vedere 5.000 kg di scarti dal vivo non è una statistica; è un invito all'azione. Ho capito allora che se questo accade in una delle città più verdi del mondo, abbiamo un enorme vuoto di dati da colmare. 

Tutto Zero Waste è la mia risposta. Il mio obiettivo è costruire una Libreria Globale di soluzioni circolari, dall'Italia alla Scandinavia, dal Sud America all'Asia. Ogni sabato vi porterò una nuova tecnica, un progetto o la storia di una realtà che combatte questa battaglia. ♻️
